Bio-mechanical Video Gait Analysis
The Boston Running Center's video gait analysis is ideal for those looking to:
- improve their running form
- gather detailed information to help find possible causes for a re-occuring running injury
- or improve running efficiency through custom designed exercise routines that are based on the findings of the gait analysis.
(Measurements taken are those that our coaches feel are most important to a runner's bio-mechanical profile. This analysis should not replace a thorough examination by a sports medicine doctor who specializing in running injuries.) |
Indoor testing and recording:
This involves a 15-20 minute indoor session to be performed at the Boston Running Center for treadmill video recording, allow 30-40 minutes if baseline measurements are to be included*. Total running time is 2-3 minutes and involves barefoot running for accurate measurements of ankle eversion and inversion angles. Participants must be able to run 6-8 min/mile pace for atleast 1 minute. Shorts, cut off above the knees, are required.
*Baseline testing and measurements include: height, weight, body fat %, BMI, girth measurments, and flexibility and strength tests. This is intended for those just beginning a program and/or would like to follow physical adaptations that occur during their training.
Outdoor recording:
This involves a 20-30 min outdoor recording session to be performed at an outdoor site for ground running recording, typically in and around Brookline/Cambridge. For this participants run 9-12 short periods of 10-15 seconds each for side, front, and rear views. Participants must be able to run 6-8 min/mile pace for 10-15 seconds at a time. Running shoes and tight clothing is required.
